-
Collect very small twigs to use as kindling.
There must be a very large amount of these and they must be dry.
-
Make sure you have adequate reserves of
larger sticks and logs to prevent panic once fire is lit, you have burnt all
your kindling and there is no more fuel!
-
Arrange the kindling twigs in a rough wigwam
effect with a small hole to stick the match in facing towards the wind (if
there is some).
-
Arrange slightly larger twigs on top of the
current wigwam until it is of a reasonable size.
-
Light it. Try to keep the match out of the
wind. It helps.
-
Blow gently through the hole to get the fire
going. (If there is wind it may well do it for you provided it can get to
your fire!)
-
Once it has got going put on larger and
larger twigs and logs until it is roaring. Simple!
